A wedding photo portrays a thousand emotions… By Lisa Carmody

There are many important aspects to a wedding, the dress, the venue, the rings, but most importantly the photography!

In ten, twenty, even fifty years’ time you will look back on the photos of your special day and remember how you felt in that moment. The last thing you want is to have missed opportunities to take photos with loved ones or at special places. Remember for generations to come it will be your wedding photo that will tell the story of how you began your life together.

Once the couple has decided on the wedding venue then it’s time to start thinking about the perfect photo spots at the venue or nearby. Gone are the days of traditional church photos with the bridal party standing next to you and the parents of the bride and groom sitting in front…it’s time to have fun with your photos, don’t let the photo process be boring. Take every opportunity you have to get the perfect shot whether it’s on a beach, in a pub or sitting on the stairs of the hotel. When choosing your photographer make sure that you share the same views on what you are hoping to get from the day. There is only one chance to get perfect photos so going through a detailed shot list with your photographer in advance of the wedding is always a good idea.

Here are some of my favourite shots at various locations in Munster. These amazing photos would look great blown up in a canvas print on any wall.

This picture on Garryvoe Beach in Cork is stunning. If you have blue skies on your wedding day and you’re not too far from the sea, it’s worth the trip to get some amazing shots.

The Malton

The Malton Hotel in Killarney, Co Kerry is known for this hallway. Every couple ever married in this hotel must have thisphoto. It’s something different for an indoor shot.

Why not head to your local for a photo that you can recreate on a Saturday night!

Don’t expect your photographer to know what photos you want, put some thought into the planning and you should have moments captured in photos to last a lifetime.
