A ‘polar low’ is predicted to sweep over Ireland, bringing ice and snow on hills for the whole Island of Ireland this week, and it might sound obvious but this kind of winter weather is really not good for our skin. We tend to look after body skin more in the spring and summer months since we generally have more on show.

As we head out into colder temperatures though, we tend to cover up more and can sometimes neglect the skin on our bodies and think only of our face and hands. Hot showers and baths feel really good in winter months but they can literally strip necessary oils from the skin.

Fear not, as we have tips, tricks and advice to keep your skin looking fabulous post-polar conditions and well into the New Year!

Exfoliation

Every day our skin renews itself, so it is important to get rid of dead cells by exfoliating. Delarom’s Orange Sugar Body Scrub, which contains sweet orange essential oil, is ideal to gently eliminate dead cells.  The sugar melts when massaged into the skin thus leaving it feeling soft, supple and deliciously perfumed. It also prevents the skin from drying out – an ideal way to give your skin an overhaul!

Apply the scrub either in the shower or after your bath once or twice a week to remove dead skin cells.

Moisturising

Cold weather and low humidity levels result in dry air, which then steals moisture away from the skin every second of every day. Indoor heat also robs the air of moisture; this makes it vital that we moisturise during the winter months.

With its rich, non-oily texture, PAYOT Hydra24 Corps protective skincare treatment provides hydration around the clock. This will tone and firm your skin, improve the skin’s barrier function and visibly minimise the signs of skin aging. It does this through its continuous release hydro-diffusing system, which helps the skin maintain its natural moisture level. It also will act on skin firmness to help preserve a youthful body.
